Pigeon Peas

Pigeon peas, also known as Toor or Arhar, are mainly grown during the Kharif season in India, with major production in Maharashtra and Karnataka. They are used as a raw material for making toor dal, which is highly consumed in India. India’s consumption of pigeon peas exceeds its production, leading to imports from Myanmar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi and Sudan.
